Share The Friends of the Garden are grateful to the people who spontaneously showed their support for the Garden Montreal Mayor Denis Coderre announced on Friday, June 23, 2017 that he will override the decision by Space for Life to eliminate the direction of the Montréal Botanical Garden. His response alleviates the concerns expressed by Montreal citizens and the scientific community. The Friends of the Garden are grateful to the more than 5700 individuals who spontaneously showed their support for the Garden by signing our petition, or spoke out publicly. We would like to thank Mayor Coderre for being sensitive to our concerns and confirming his intention to preserve the independence of the Montréal Botanical Garden. His decision provides greater protection for this world-renowned institution, a place of natural beauty and scientific activity of which Montrealers are extremely proud.
